This route takes you past the historic fortifications of Bad Nieuweschans and through the surrounding countryside.

  • Starting point: Schanskerhof BNB
  • Route: Start your ride with a short visit to the fortifications of Bad Nieuweschans. Then cycle along the old fortification wall and through the green meadows of the Westerkwartier. The route takes you past Bunde and through the picturesque Dollart Region, where you can enjoy the view over the water.
  • Sights:
    • The Fortifications from Bad Nieuweschans
    • The Dollart Region, a beautiful nature reserve along the Wadden Sea
    • Bunde, where you can admire the old grain mills
  • Distance: 25 km

    • Kiekkaaste: an observation tower in the Dollartwatt, where you can observe nature

  • Starting point: Bad Nieuweschans, near the Synagogue
  • Route: Start the route with a visit to the synagogue of Bad Nieuweschans and then cycle to Winschoten. In Winschoten you can make a stop at the famous St Vitus Church and the Winschoter Tower. Then cycle on to the Rosarium and past other historical sites.
  • Sights:
    • Synagogue Bad Nieuweschans
    • Winschoten, including the St Vitus Church, Rosarium and Olle White Tower
    • Winschoten steam pumping station, an iconic industrial heritage site

This route takes you to the German border and offers a unique opportunity to explore the border area between the Netherlands and Germany.

  • Starting point: Bad Nieuweschans
  • Route: Cycle from Bad Nieuweschans towards the border with Germany. You'll pass several historic border points and over the Eemsdijk, where you can see the difference between the Dutch and German sides of the area. The route takes you further through the German countryside, with the possibility of stopping in Bunde for a break.
